What is Involved in a Divorce?
If you are serious about ending your marriage, we can let you know what is involved in a divorce action, how long it usually takes and the usual expenses involved, as well as how it may affect you, your business and your children. Here are some of the divorce issues we discuss with our clients:

With more than two decades of divorce experience in Texas, we can help bring predictability to a divorce action. By knowing how judges have ruled on similar divorce cases in the past, we can help you set realistic expectations and negotiate in a practical way.

Texas Grounds for Divorce
In Texas, A divorce may be granted using either "Fault" or "No-Fault" grounds.

Fault grounds include:

  • adultery
  • abandonment
  • cruel and inhuman treatment
  • conviction of a felony and imprisonment for over 1 year
  • confinement for incurable insanity for three years
  • lived apart without co-habitation for at least 3 years

The fault grounds in a divorce can affect property division as well as child custody and visitation.

Annulment
In an annulment, the court says that there never was a marriage. Annulments are difficult to obtain, and for this reason you should speak to an attorney as well as your priest, minister, or rabbi.
